Ukraine offensive stalls as Russians pound Black Sea ports

The Russian Black Sea blockade in back into full swing following the collapse of the grain deal that the Zelensky regime and the imperialists never honoured. Russian missiles are pounding the Odessa docks and the Ukrainian ports on the Danube whilst their troops push the Ukrainians back in the northern Donbas whilst holding the line along the rest of the front.

State of the Unions

The percentage of UK employees belonging to trade unions fell to 22.3 per cent in 2022 – down from 23.1 per cent in 2021. This meant 200,000 fewer workers are in unions, with only 6,250,000 trade unionists out of a workforce of 28,300,000, the lowest rate since 1995. Of these, about five and a half million are in TUC-affiliated unions. The 2022 fall was most notable in the private sector, but public sector membership fell as well.

Something for everyone

They say it’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good and that was certainly true of last week’s by-election results. Labour and the Liberal Democrats both took Conservative seats, and the Tories managed to hold their other former bastion in suburban London.
